For routine care, physicals and immunizations, please schedule your appointment by calling Member Services at (520) 670-3909 between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Mornings between 8:00 am and 10:00 am are our busiest time. You may expect more timely telephone service for routine calls after 10:00 am.

For urgent medical care needs after hours, please call (520) 792-9893. You will be referred to the nurse helpline and will be assisted in making medically necessary care arrangements.

Same Day Medical Needs
At times you may need medical attention for problems that cannot wait. For same day appointments please call Members Services at (520) 670-3909 between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm weekdays. Explain your needs to the Service Representative who will assist with your care arrangements. El Rio same day appointments are limited, so please call early. Whenever possible, our staff will try to arrange such care with your primary physician. If they are not available, the appointment may be with another provider.

Medical Emergencies
For medical emergencies, go to the nearest hospital emergency room or call 911 immediately!

Some medical emergencies include:

• Choking - obstructed airway
• Breathing problems
• Excessive bleeding - when a bandage does not stop the bleeding
• Chest pain - a feeling of pressure on chest
• Broken bone - bone is poking through the skin
• Gunshot wound
• Sexual assault

Selecting and Changing a Physician
When registering as a new patient, we will ask you to select a primary care physician(PCP) for you and your family. Pregnant women are offered a choice of obstetrician, nurse midwife or a family practitioner.

To meet the diverse needs of you and your family, El Rio offers all of the basic types of primary care physicians. This includes pediatricians for children and adolescents, internists for adults and the elderly, and family practitioners for all ages. We also have onstaff obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, family nurse practitioners, nutritionists, psychologists and behavioral health professionals.
