TUCSON (KVOA) – According to the Arizona Department of Health Services data dashboard, more than 2,000 Arizonans are currently in the hospital with the Coronavirus.

AZDHS reported 3,794 new cases Wednesday.

“This appears to be a sustained change in the transmission dynamics that’s unclear at the moment,” Dr. Joe Gerald with the University of Arizona College of Public Health said.

Gerald believes the recent fall break for many students and families could be contributing factors.

Dr. Sudha Nagalingam, an infectious disease specialist with El Rio Health tells News 4 Tucson the medical community needs to push vaccinations and boosters as we head towards the end of the year.
