OGME-1

Joshua Lloyd, DO: I chose El Rio because of the focus on breaking down barriers to healthcare, whether that is due to cost, language barriers, education, underserved populations, or many other reasons. There are many opportunities to make a difference in the community and it is encouraged to seek ways to improve the systems in which you are involved. Within family medicine, I have a particular interest in diabetes management (especially type 1 diabetes), OMT, sports medicine, and wound care. I hope to utilize these interests as part of a full-spectrum outpatient practice in the future. Outside of medicine, I enjoy time with my wife and kids, soccer, ping pong, running, hiking, many different sports, NBA basketball, and watching movies.

Joshua George, DO: I chose El Rio because of the patient population and location of the program. It’s a personal and professional goal of mine to become at least moderately fluent in Spanish and the patient demographics at El Rio are largely Spanish speaking. I’m interested in pursuing a Sports Medicine fellowship following residency. I’m also interested in increasing my knowledge of OMT application. When I’m not practicing medicine – I enjoy being outside, whether that’s hiking, playing sports, or just sitting in the sun. I also love spending time with my dog, Daisy, and catching up with friends and family. And of course, sleeping in.

Katlyn Jones, DO: I chose El Rio because I am very passionate about El Rio’s Mission of improving the overall health of Tucson’s community – both on an individual and community level. I love El Rio’s emphasis on serving the underserved communities throughout Southern Arizona and its focus on giving back to the community. Plus, I really enjoy the Southern Arizona culture and way of life! Nothing beats Arizona’s sunshine and sunsets! My special interests include: Women’s Health, Sports Medicine, Weight loss, Dermatology and Hypertension. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling the world, playing with my dogs, and working out/doing anything active (gymnastics, cycling, running, weightlifting, snowboarding, boating, etc.).

Leonardo Mejia, DO: I chose El Rio because I wanted to be a part of a program where making change for better healthcare is our priority. Having this goal in mind allows me to not only provide exceptional care directly to patients but also engage in the community as a leader. I am happy to be a part of this team and hope you can trust myself and my colleagues in providing the care you need to live a healthy life. I have a special interest in Adolescent and Adult Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Preventative Medicine. I enjoy playing soccer, spending time with family and going for walks.
