El Rio Health to Celebrate National Health Center Week – August 13-17, 2018

El Rio Health will hold a new construction kick-off on Wednesday, August 15th from 3-4 pm at their Southeast campus to celebrate National Health Center Week 2018.  The event is part of a national campaign during the week of August 13th-17th to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers and the dedicated staff who provide health care for their community. El Rio Health provides care to more than 104,000 people in Tucson and will be expanding services to 15,000 more people with the SE expansion project and new Cherrybell Health Center.

Along with the Southeast expansion, EL Rio Health will also be hosting the National Healthcare for the Homeless Day Breakfast at their Broadway location from 7:30 – 9:30 am.

The heroes who work at El Rio Health and other health centers, help make affordable health care possible for people in need are at the center of this year’s NHCW.  More than 205,000 people work at health centers in positions that include clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, community health advisors, nutritionists, dentists, hygienists, behavioral health specialists, and much more.  Working together, our health care heroes produce innovative solutions to the most pressing health care issues. They reach beyond the walls of conventional medicine to address the factors that may cause chronic illness, such as lack of nutrition, mental illness, homelessness and substance use disorders. Their work reduces health care costs and chronic disease, generating a record of successful outcomes along with bipartisan support in Congress.
